What are the benefits of combining hot air and heated ceramic to style and straighten hair?
What are the differences between the FlexFusion Straight styler and traditional hair straighteners?
The new Shark FlexFusion Straight comes with two innovative Fusion styling attachments, which combine heated ceramic plates with powerful airflow to style wet or dry hair, creating looks that last.
Wondering how this works differently from standard hair straighteners, and air stylers? Below we will outline the differences between other hair tools and the FlexFusion Straight styler.
What is ceramic and hot air styling?
- FlexFusion Straight accessories combine heated ceramic plates (similar to those found on traditional straighteners or curlers) with hot air styling, for all-in-one drying and straightening.
- Original FlexStyle and some other air stylers use ONLY heated air for gentle drying and shaping.
- Traditional hair straighteners use heated ceramic plates to straighten the hair, but the hair generally should be completely dry beforehand.
Wet to dry styling
- FlexFusion Straight works on both wet and dry hair. Thanks to the combination of ceramic AND air power, wet hair is styled and shaped as it dries – while dry hair can also be styled without the need to dampen it first.
- Original FlexStyle and some other air stylers use ONLY heated air to shape wet hair as it dries, so hair is most easily styled when slightly damp.
- Traditional hair straighteners generally should be used on dry hair. Hair is weaker when it’s wet, therefore applying high heat directly to wet hair is more likely to cause breakage and heat damage.
No heat damage on wet hair
- FlexFusion Straight combines ceramic plates with heated air, meaning wet hair can be styled with lower temperatures, with no heat damage. FlexFusion measures heat 1,000 times every second.
- Original FlexStyle is designed to give the best styling results when used on damp hair. As it only uses air and regulates temperatures to gently style and dry, it also causes no heat damage.
- Traditional hair straighteners generally should be used on dry hair, and can reach very high temperatures which could cause heat damage and could contribute to breakage, especially if hair is already weakened.
Why is it better to use a combination of heated ceramic and hot air to style hair?
So, should you use a hair dryer and follow up with straighteners separately, or opt for FlexFusion which combines both these steps?
Speed up your drying and styling routine
Drying and styling at the same time could speed up your routine (more time in your morning routine for another coffee, anyone?), but going from wet-to-styled with one appliance also means no need to wait for hair to get completely dry before straightening it, and means less faffing about switching between tools.
Multiple ways to style
FlexFusion Straight includes both a Fusion Straightener tool and a Fusion Brush, so you can create bouncy, shiny blow-dries and sleek, straight locks – plus, there are also other FlexFusion attachments without ceramic elements, which only use air power. So you can still create your favourite auto-wrap curls, diffused coils, or classic blow-outs.
